Dear Brethren and Sister:
As I write this letter to you, the Lord our God is down pouring His blessings on the communion. In His mercy, God has blessed us with the opportunity to grow and expand. This is wonderful news indeed, and I am excited and hopeful about the things to come.
One area that is experiencing tremendous growth in the communion is the foreign missions field. We have Bishop Reuben Lubanga, Bishop Eric Escala and Bishop Ydenir Machado arduously doing the work of the Lord in their respective countries. These men of God are doing great things for the glory of Christ and for the communion, and I am thankful to our Heavenly Father for bringing us together. From the work of these men of God, I am sure that our communion and the Kingdom of God here on earth will grow exponentially.
As patriarch for the communion, I want to make sure that each archbishop, bishop, priest, deacon and congregant is cared for in an effective manner. However, as we grow in numbers, my ability to personally handle communications and administration of all of the communion’s business becomes more difficult.
Additionally, as I endeavor to minister to the needy, the finances for the communion become limited. For that reason, I have come to the decision to establish a Foreign Missions Office and I have placed that office under the administrative care of Bishop Abad A. Perez.
I have directed Bishop Abad to establish a mechanism whereby the communion can more effectively minister to the needs of the members of the communion outside of the United States.
While Bishop Abad will be responsible for the day-to-day business of the Foreign Missions Office, all of us in the communion share the responsibility of supporting the Foreign Missions Office. One area of immediate concern is the funding of the work associated with foreign missions. We have the potential to make a great impact overseas, but in order to do so we have to pool our resources, especially financially.
For that reason, I am asking all members of the communion to participate in providing for the financial needs of the Foreign Missions Office. If every archbishop, bishop, priest, deacon and even every congregant and covenant partner here in the U.S. and in our foreign congregations will contribute at least one dollar per month towards the Foreign Missions Office, we can develop a fund that will help the communion provide for the needs that pertain to the foreign missions work. I feel that this amount is small enough that it will not be burdensome, but if honored by everyone in the communion, it will be substantial enough to make a difference in the work being done by the Foreign Missions Office.
I want to thank each one of you for the great work that you do, and I appreciate your willingness to support this important part of our communion. Your generosity of little, can make a tremendous difference in the lives of others in need.
